Over the past few hours, we've been talking about the negotiations between Lane Hutson's camp and the Montreal Canadiens, which have not been going well.
We even witnessed something rare as Hutson's agent Sean Coffey was sidelined, and more experienced members at Quartexx have stepped in.
The Lane Hutson case is "a bit of a mess," according to renowned Darren Dreger
I think this is the first time I've seen an NHL insider make such a statement.
He no longer seems to understand what's happening in this case, and clearly, things are not going well at all!
We're witnessing something highly unusual, and very different from what we saw in contract extension cases for Juraj Slafkovsky and Cole Caufield, for example..

So, unfortunately, don't expect this matter to be resolved anytime soon, at least if we go by Darren Dreger's (TSN) statement.
It's worth recalling that the renowned Elliotte Friedman recently mentioned that this case had become "a bit too emotional" and that everyone needed a short break from these difficult negotiations.
However, we do know that Kent Hughes is working hard to get a deal done as soon as possible, so don't be surprised if it becomes official this weekend.
It's also important to make a clear distinction between "Lane Hutson's camp" and "Lane Hutson, the person."
Lane Hutson, the person, is extremely eager for this to be resolved!
