Kent Hughes makes a big decision on Martin St-Louis' assistant coaches
A few weeks before the 2024 NHL draft, which will take place in Las Vegas, we would have our answer regarding Martin St-Louis' assistant coaches.
There have been many discussions about the possibility of the Canadiens bringing in a new experienced assistant (like Gerard Gallant) to support Martin St-Louis, but we may already have our answer.
This would be confirmed and done: Alex Burrows, Stéphane Robidas, and Trevor Letowski will be back with Martin St-Louis
A week before the draft, we are exactly at the time of the year when teams generally settle the coaching (head and assistants) matters for the upcoming season, and there would ultimately be no changes in Montreal.
This is a very good thing because Burrows, Robidas, and Letowski (who replaced Martin St-Louis during his absence) are doing an excellent job.
They notably stood out brilliantly when Martin had temporarily left the team to take care of his son.
«It is also in May and June that coaches are generally appointed and/or replaced in professional hockey. At least, those who did not lose their jobs during the season...
At the Montreal Canadiens, everything indicates that there will be no change behind the bench and that Martin St-Louis, Alex Burrows, Trevor Letowski, Stéphane Robidas, and Éric Raymond will all be back next season.» - Maxime Truman
The CH is betting on stability, and that can only be positive!
We are already looking forward to next season and the next training camp to see all these individuals progress together and slowly but surely start aiming for a playoff spot.
Details will follow.
