Jeff Gorton Confirms Canadiens Are Actively Working on a Trade for a Centerman

In the past few hours, Montreal Canadiens Executive Vice President of Hockey Operations, Jeff Gorton, gave a very interesting interview to RG Media.
He touched on several topics and notably confirmed that serious work is underway within the Montreal Canadiens organization to complete a trade for a centerman.
This rumor has been circulating for some time already, but Gorton has now confirmed it: the Canadiens are actively working right now to finalize a deal in that regard.

We know that names like Marco Rossi and Evgeny Kuznetsov are available, but clearly, Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton don't seem very interested.
So they have to look elsewhere, and in that sense, the Seattle Kraken appear to be a very strong trade partner for Montreal. As it was reported earlier, Jared McCann appears to be on the trade block and could be a potential fit for the Canadiens on the second line.
The Kraken are one of the very few NHL teams with a significant surplus of centermen, and it's clear they will need to trade one or two.
So I really wouldn't be surprised if there are currently discussions underway between Seattle and Montreal involving a centerman.
They have Matty Beniers, Shane Wright, Jared McCann, Fred Gaudreau, Tye Kartye, Chandler Stephenson, plus Berkly Catton and Jake O'Brien who will eventually join the roster.
They're all centermen!
