We've got some waiver wire action in the National Hockey League this July, and it involves two players.

The Montreal Canadiens already have a decision to make, as both players are now quick and free options available on waivers.
As reported by the well-known Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet, the players in question are Joni Jurmo of the Calgary Flames and Ty Voit of the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Many fans (in the comments) are wondering what happened with Voit, making his case the more surprising of the two.

Two Players Are Now Freely Available on NHL Waivers

Check out Friedman's post:
"Joni Jurmo (CAL) and Ty Voit (TOR) have both been placed on unconditional waivers for contract termination."
Ty Voit, 22, is a 5-foot-10, 157-pound forward from Pittsburgh who was a fifth-round pick (153rd overall) by the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2021.
So, he's not a selection made by the Leafs' current management.
In 63 ECHL games last season, he recorded 37 points.
He also played for the Toronto Marlies, the Leafs' AHL affiliate, after previously putting up 105 points in 67 games in the OHL.
Joni Jurmo, 23, is a 6-foot-5, 205-pound defenseman from Finland who was a third-round pick (82nd overall) by the Vancouver Canucks in 2020.
He played 17 games this season with the Calgary Flames' AHL affiliate.
A situation to keep an eye on!
