Jacob Fowler Sends Strong Message to Kent Hughes and the Canadiens About His Role Next Season
Goaltender Jacob Fowler is off to a phenomenal start with the Laval Rocket and in the American Hockey League.
He's sending a very clear message to Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens about his role in the organization next season.
He had to prove himself, and not only is he showing that he's absolutely ready to play a major role with the Laval Rocket, but he's also practically showing that the AHL is already too easy for him.
This is likely to spark some interesting discussions within the Montreal Canadiens organization.
What if Jacob Fowler is ready for the NHL sooner than expected?
I know goalies typically take longer to develop, but in Fowler's case, it seems clear that he won't need 2-3 years with the Laval Rocket.
He has the talent and maturity, without a doubt.
Jacob Fowler, after a decisive 18-save win for the Laval Rocket:
"It's kind of a goalie's dream, you make the saves that you have to but (Cleveland) didn't really get much tonight. The team played great at every end.. When our team is playing like that, we're pretty hard to beat."

And he already loves the passion of our hockey market.
Jacob Fowler, on playing for the Laval Rocket at home during the AHL playoffs:
"The crowd was incredible. The support here is unlike anything I've ever seen. It's pretty special to play here."
This will be a storyline to watch in the coming weeks, but Fowler is clearly sending a strong message to the Canadiens' leadership.
What if he's ready as soon as next year, by the end of the 2025-2026 season?
Or even worse, what will the Canadiens do if Fowler has an incredible training camp this fall?
I don't want to get too carried away, but he's just so solid!
His numbers speak for themselves.
