A former Montreal Canadiens forward has officially been hired by the Buffalo Sabres.

The Sabres, who are in desperate need of reinforcements in the front office, have just announced the hiring of Eric Staal!
"The Buffalo Sabres today announced the hiring of Eric Staal as Special Assistant to the General Manager.

In this new role within the organization, Staal will report directly to General Manager Kevyn Adams and contribute to all aspects of the hockey department, including scouting and direct involvement with players and prospects."

Much like Daniel Brière, he'll be another former player aiming to rise through the ranks and potentially become an NHL general manager in the future.

Now 40 years old, Staal played 1,365 games in his NHL career, recording 455 goals and 608 assists for an impressive total of 1,063 points.
He added 64 points in 104 playoff games.
Staal notably played for the Montreal Canadiens during the memorable 2020-2021 season, where he appeared in 21 of his 104 career playoff games wearing the Canadiens uniform.
He recorded 8 points in 21 games during the Canadiens' 2021 playoff run.
