Hughes and the Habs have secured a top-7 pick thanks to the Flames
It's now official for Kent Hughes and the Canadiens, thanks to Calgary Flames' victory last night.
Montreal has just secured, at minimum, the 7th overall position in the NHL's reverse standings.
Montreal will therefore have, at minimum, the 7th best ticket for the 2024 lottery.
An acquisition that will be so important for the future of the organization will take place in June, and with this improving ticket, we can expect that this acquisition will be even more interesting.
The Canadiens secure the 7th best lottery ticket and are getting closer to another top-5 pick in the first round! Good news for Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton
See the report by the journalist from La Presse.
"LOTTERY: following the victory of the Calgary Flames tonight, Canadiens can no longer finish higher than 26th in the overall standings. And it has been known for a while that they can't fall lower than 28th.
I have chills all over."
- Simon-Olivier Lorange, La Presse
The Flames indeed won with a score of 6 to 5 against the Arizona Coyotes last night.

Moreover, with a regulation time loss tonight against the Detroit Red Wings, Martin St-Louis' team could secure the 6th overall rank!
It will be interesting to follow until tomorrow night!
See the current standings:
26 - OTTAWA - 76 POINTS IN 80 GAMES
27 - ARIZONA - 75 POINTS IN 81 GAMES
28 - MONTREAL - 74 POINTS IN 80 GAMES
Positions #25 and #29 are out of reach for the Canadiens, so it will be a battle between positions #26, #27, and #28.
There are only 4 days left in the NHL schedule, and two games to play for the Canadiens, so we will have our answer very soon.
Stay tuned!
