As reported in recent hours, due to the injury sustained by Quentin Miller, Kent Hughes and the Canadiens were evidently in need of adding a new goaltender in preparation for rookie camp.
According to our information, this has now been done.
The official confirmation should follow soon.
Drobac, 21 years old, is a 6-foot-2, 199-pound goaltender.
He played four seasons with the Brantford/Hamilton Bulldogs in the OHL and appeared in 52 games during the 2023-2024 season.
His stats: 28 wins, 14 losses, and 9 overtime losses, along with three shutouts (3.27 goals against average and a .892 save percentage).
Notably, in 2022, he recorded 19 wins and 2 losses, with a .905 save percentage and a 2.57 goals against average.
We're excited to see him at camp, particularly against the Toronto Maple Leafs' rookies.
The Canadiens' goaltending duo for the 2024 rookie camp will consist of Samuel Richard and Matteo Drobac.
Details to follow.
