"Thank you for everything, Thomer!
You're ending your career on a high note - a Kelly Cup champion, nothing less than a true Lion to the very end.
Enjoy your retirement from professional hockey and all the best in what comes next!"
- Lions
We join the Lions in wishing Cory Thomas a wonderful retirement and the best in his future endeavors!
Thomas, 27 years old, was a big left-handed defenseman, standing 6-foot-5 and weighing 215 pounds, originally from Saskatchewan.
Last season with the Lions, he recorded 5 points in 47 games, including one goal, and added 43 penalty minutes. He was known as a solid and tough all-around defenseman.
He was among the names considered to potentially fill some of the holes left on the Laval Rocket blue line for next season (especially following the departure of Noel Hoefenmayer), but Thomas has chosen to pursue new challenges and opportunities.
Thomas played with the Trois-Rivières Lions for two seasons and spent a total of four seasons as a professional hockey player after his NCAA career, which included time with the University of Vermont.
Training camps begin in just over a month-don't forget!
