Cayden Primeau's Future With the Canadiens in Doubt After End-of-Season Press Conference

Montreal Canadiens goaltender, Cayden Primeau, was recently asked to comment on the possibility of signing a new contract with the Habs.
He refused to answer the question, he declined this week, and more importantly, he rejected the possibility of immediately ending his association with the organization that selected him 199th overall in the 2017 draft (unlike others).
This will be an interesting story to follow in the coming weeks, but for now, Primeau has indeed turned down all requests on the matter.
"Cayden Primeau refused to commit to his future because the Canadiens still hold his rights. He is eligible for arbitration this summer. He declined to open the door to a change of scenery. I think both sides are ready for an amicable split."

As a reminder, it was the young Jacob Fowler who played the Rocket de Laval's final playoff game, not Primeau.

Understandably so, there's a human side to all of this too.
Even though the end seems inevitable for Primeau and the Canadiens, we sincerely hope he gets another opportunity to establish himself as an NHL goaltender.
Now 25 years old, Cayden Primeau is a 6-foot-3, 205-pound goalie who was a 7th-round pick by the Canadiens in 2017 and had a season of two halves.
First, an extremely difficult start in the NHL (4.70 GAA and a .836 save percentage), but then a phenomenal campaign in the AHL (1.96 GAA, .927 save percentage, and a record of 21 wins, 2 losses, and 2 overtime losses).
