It's officially underway for the 2025 Montreal Canadiens training camp.

The players have been divided into three groups..
We can already conclude several interesting things, simply following the announcement of the three official groups.
"No surprise: Dach, Demidov, Laine in one group.

Slafkovsky, Suzuki, Caufield in another.

Anderson, Gallagher, Newhook, Bolduc and Evans are in the middle of a group, so the composition of the bottom six players for the start of the season is a little less clear.

It shouldn't take long, however.

Scrimmage at 10:30 a.m."

The picture is therefore fairly clear up front, with the first line consisting of Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Juraj Slafkovsky, and the second line consisting of Patrik Laine, Kirby Dach, and Ivan Demidov.
As for the defensemen, we also have our answer.

It's confirmed for Arber Xhekaj and Jayden Struble: they are competing for the sixth and final spot on defense

That gives us the following:
"Guhle - Hutson

Matheson - Dobson

Xhekaj/Struble - Carrier"

Indeed, it is Mike Matheson who is paired with Noah Dobson to start camp, while Jayden Struble and Arber Xhekaj are competing for the last spot in the top six on defense, alongside Quebecer Alexandre Carrier.
It's an interesting choice!
Those who expected Matheson to be sent to the third pairing on defense will therefore be surprised.
There could still be changes during camp, of course, but for now Mike Matheson is Noah Dobson's partner.
Details to follow.
