There are a few unresolved files at the moment for Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens.

We recently spoke to you about the Evgeny Kuznetsov situation.
But we're also continuing to monitor what's going on with hometown forward Joseph Veleno.
Let's recall that last week, the excellent Marc-Olivier Beaudoin reported the following exclusively:
It revealed that the Habs had submitted a one-year contract offer worth around $1,000,000 to Joe Veleno.
However, the Canadiens are not the only team in the running, so we are still awaiting his final decision.
On that note, the excellent team at DansLesCoulisses discussed the possibility of Joe Veleno replacing Alex Newhook in the faceoff circle.

A formal offer made to Joe Veleno to replace Alex Newhook in one specific area - faceoffs?

That's an interesting angle raised by DLC.
Michaël Petit points out that since Christian Dvorak left the Montreal Canadiens - signing a deal with the Flyers - the Habs now have only one left-handed center: Alex Newhook.
He also explains that Newhook is not particularly strong in the faceoff circle, and Joe Veleno could certainly step in there and help.
No, the importance of having an effective left-handed center should not be underestimated, especially in today's NHL.
To be continued!
