The Laval Rocket, the Canadiens' farm team, just announced that it has terminated the contract of a 6-foot right-shot defenseman.
Wyatte Wylie is immediately shown the door by the Montreal Canadiens organization
The former Philadelphia Flyers prospect has just had his contract terminated effective immediately.
The story doesn't say much about the reasons, but what's clear is that he's no longer a defenseman within the Montreal Canadiens organization at this time.
"The Laval Rocket announced today having reached a mutual agreement to release defenseman Wyatte Wylie."
- Laval Rocket
Wylie, 26, is a right-shot defenseman standing 6 feet tall and weighing 192 pounds. A fifth-round pick of the Philadelphia Flyers in 2018 (127th overall), he collected one point in eight games this season with the Laval Rocket.
Wylie also recorded eight penalty minutes and had a -3 rating under head coach Pascal Vincent.
Last season, Wylie tallied 13 points in 56 games with the Ottawa Senators' AHL affiliate, the Belleville Senators.
At the junior level, he played five seasons with the Everett Silvertips (WHL), notably posting 64 points in 62 games in 2019-2020.
We wish him the best of luck moving forward!
