Canadiens Officially Pull the Plug on Rumored Deal With Free Agent Forward

The excellent Tony Marinaro has just announced an interesting development regarding Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens. Over the past few days, 6-foot-1 forward Joseph Veleno has been seriously linked to the Habs.
Numerous rumors suggested he might reach a deal with the Habs, and even that an offer had been made-but that can now be ruled out.
The Canadiens Drop the Idea of Signing Forward Joe Veleno
Here's what Tony Marinaro specifically said:
"Contrary to reports, I have been told that the Canadiens did NOT make a formal contract offer to Joe Veleno.
Last week, Joe Veleno's representation, had talks with at least 3 teams: Colorado, Montreal and Nashville.
Told the Canadiens staff studied his game, discussed it and have decided to pass.

There you go! That seems to settle the matter once and for all.
Joe Veleno, 25, recorded 17 points in 74 games this season with the Detroit Red Wings and the Chicago Blackhawks.
He was earning $2.275 million per year until 2026, but that contract was just bought out by the Seattle Kraken, who acquired him via trade only a few weeks ago.
Clearly, Seattle acquired him specifically to buy out his contract.
