Last week, we had the opportunity to see several young players and prospects from the Montreal Canadiens in action. It all took place during the organization's annual development camp.

The vast majority of these young players will return this September for the rookie camp and the Canadiens' main training camp.
That said, there are exceptions.
One of the young players who may decline the Canadiens' invitation this September is Aatos Koivu.
He truly spoke like someone who does not plan to return to Montreal for the upcoming fall.

Aatos Koivu Likely to Decline Invitation to 2025 Montreal Canadiens Camps

He wants to focus 100% on his season in Finland, and that's something we absolutely respect.
Everything points to Koivu returning to the Finnish pro league for the 2025-2026 season.
"Habs prospect Aatos Koivu says the plan is for him to return to TPS Turku next season and he doesn't know if he will attend Canadiens rookie training camp in September."

- Priyanta Emrith

He genuinely seemed to be leaning toward declining.
Koivu will come over when he's certain he's 100% ready, and that's not a bad thing at all.
Aatos Koivu, the 19-year-old son of Habs legend Saku Koivu, is a 6-foot, 163-pound right-handed center who was drafted 70th overall by the Montreal Canadiens in the third round of the 2024 NHL Draft.
Last season in Finland with TPS Turku, he collected 8 points in 31 games, including one goal, while posting a -1 rating.
More to come!
