Last season, the Montreal Canadiens shocked everyone by qualifying for the NHL playoffs.

Martin St-Louis' squad went on to face the Washington Capitals and, despite putting up a good fight, Montreal was eliminated rather quickly.

That said, overall, the expectations management had for the Canadiens' 2024-2025 season were largely surpassed.

We all remember the famous "mix" the Habs' brass was aiming for before the start of the most recent campaign.

Absolutely no one (aside from a few players) wanted to talk about the playoffs.

Alexandre Carrier confirms that Kent Hughes will announce that, this time, the Montreal Canadiens will officially aim for the playoffs

For the first time in a long while, during the upcoming Montreal Canadiens golf tournament, management is expected to announce that the goal for the 2025-2026 season will be to make the playoffs!

We love it! It shows how far along we are in this much-talked-about rebuild.

In short, Carrier points out how excited he is about Kent Hughes' summer acquisitions for the Montreal Canadiens (including Noah Dobson) and confirms that expectations will clearly be different this season.

Yes, we're openly aiming for the playoffs!

"Clearly, the expectations for the team will be different. Other teams will approach us differently. They'll be more ready to face us," said the Quebec defenseman at the KR Classic on Saturday at the CN Sports Complex.

This is promising!

Personally, I absolutely believe the Habs should aim for the 2026 playoffs, and I'm convinced the team is capable of playing meaningful spring hockey again.
