There's a lot of talk about Ivan Demidov and Oliver Kapanen, but another name might be on the verge of signing with the Montreal Canadiens.
It's a familiar name because yes, he is the brother of Boston Bruins forward
Casey Mittelstadt, but as reported by TVA Sports, forward Luke Mittelstadt could very well be about to sign with the Canadiens.
This is a situation to watch over the next few hours.
Luke Mittelstadt Under Contract with the Montreal Canadiens Just Ahead of the NHL and AHL Playoffs?
It will be up to Kent Hughes to make the call, but with the loss suffered by the University of Minnesota Gophers, defenseman Luke Mittelstadt is now available if he wishes to make the jump to the pros immediately.
"His head coach at the University of Minnesota, Bob Motzko, has no doubt that [Luke Mittelstadt] will one day play in the NHL."
- TVA Sports
The Canadiens prospect is described as a physical specimen, extremely fit, and incredibly strong physically.
We are now waiting on this decision-from Kent Hughes, but also from Mittelstadt himself.
At 22 years old, Luke Mittelstadt is a left-shot defenseman standing 5-foot-11 and weighing 175 pounds, who was selected in the 7th round of the 2023 draft by the Montreal Canadiens.
He is therefore a pick made under the Kent Hughes administration.
This season, he has recorded 18 points in 40 games (with a +23 rating), after tallying 20 points in 38 games and 21 points in 38 games in the two previous campaigns.
