Upcoming announcements concerning Mike Bossy and Guy Lafleur: François Legault speaks out
April was definitely not an easy month for hockey fans in Quebec. In exactly one week, they saw two of their greatest hockey players pass away in Mike Bossy and Guy Lafleur.
This Friday afternoon, during his press conference in reaction to Lafleur's death, Premier François Legault spoke about the possibilities his government will have to honour the memory of the famous number 10. Among these possibilities, a national funeral and the renaming of Highway 50 in Lafleur's honour were mentioned.
Although this is a sad day for Lafleur's supporters, the Prime Minister made a point of mentioning that his government has not forgotten Mike Bossy and that something in his honor will also come soon.
Many are disappointed that Quebec did not put as much emphasis on Bossy as on Lafleur. They find it unacceptable that the famous number 22 of the New York Islanders is not entitled to a national funeral given his impact in the hockey world.
