The Blond Demon will have thrilled not only the Canadiens fans, but all hockey fans around the world. Even the actor Viggo Mortensen has the former number 10 as his idol.
Tributes to Lafleur have been pouring in from all over since this morning and as reported by Marco Normandin, of Habsolumentfan.com, the Habs' management made a nice gesture today and surrounded the statue of the Blonde Demon in front of the Bell Centre with a ribbon as well as a red carpet to allow fans to come and pay their respects and lay flowers.
Quebec Premier François Legault met with the media and offered the Lafleur family the possibility of a state funeral.
Two other former Canadiens players have had such a tribute, Maurice Richard in 2000 and Jean Beliveau in 2014. And like many Quebec personalities, Legault turned to social media to pay tribute to Lafleur.
Rest in peace, Guy.
