With the reluctance of the Senators' owner, Eugene Melnyk, to inject money into his team, supporters of the Ontario team would be very happy to see new owners arrive. Well, it may be that this wish is fulfilled more quickly than expected!
According to a rumor put forward by the site DansLesCoulisses.com, Daniel Alfredsson and Chris Phillips, two former players of the Senators, would have discussions currently with the owner Eugene Melnyk in order to buy the concession.
A third name would also be involved in the discussions since the two potential buyers would not have enough money to make this acquisition without the help of a third investor.
However, this rumor would be taken with a grain of salt. According to what is reported by DLC, a reliable source would have confirmed this information, but it was impossible for them to confirm this with a second source.
The value of the Senators was estimated at 525 million according to Forbes magazine. It is ranked 28th in the NHL on the most recent team value chart.
