Two clear targets : a trade between the Habs and the Rangers could happen sooner rather than later

For the past few weeks, several rumors have linked the Canadiens and the New York Rangers, and let's face it, it's perfectly logical and normal.

First, because Jeff Gorton is obviously the former GM of the Rangers and because he acquired the majority of their players himself (so he loves them) and second, because we are talking about two perfect trade partners here.

While the Habs wants young prospects and wants to build a core of solid young players, the Rangers, they want veterans to help them win the Stanley Cup short term.

Montreal would like to get their hands on youngsters like Nils Lundkvist, Vitali Kravtsov and Filip Chytil, and on the other, the Rangers want to acquire players like Ben Chiarot, Brett Kulak and Artturi Lehkonen.

There is clearly a possible fit for a trade.

In addition, over the past few hours, David Shapiro suggested that the Habs and the Rangers could soon conclude a trade:

«I know everyone feels like a JT Miller trade is inevitable for #NYR, but I get the feeling a trade with Montreal is not only more likely, but closer.

Chytil/Kravtsov were Gorton picks. They have lots of pieces for the Rangers that make sense too."

So don't be surprised if a trade is announced between the two organizations, and it could happen sooner rather than later.
