The Quebec Government has just given its verdict regarding Logan Mailloux
It's rare to see this, especially in August, but the Montreal Canadiens have been discussed in political columns in the last few hours.
Why? Because following the information revealed by journalist Renaud Lavoie yesterday, stating that young Logan Mailloux finally got the green light from Gary Bettman to play in the NHL, it was now up to the Quebec Government to weigh in.
Asked to comment on this decision, Minister Isabelle Charest stated that Logan Mailloux deserves a second chance.
He evidently has the endorsement of the Government, as well as the NHL, which must certainly be a huge relief for young Mailloux, who had been heavily criticized by politicians at the time.
The Minister in charge of Sports, Mrs. Charest, noted that Mailloux has made serious efforts towards rehabilitation.
Where I had been disappointed was that the Canadiens had not respected (his request) and had drafted him anyway.

However, she acknowledges the efforts made by Mailloux and the Canadiens since that selection:
The defenseman has taken courses and therapy to better understand the impact of his actions.
There are mistakes made in life. Recognizing it is already a good step and now I think he deserves a second chance," believes Minister Charest.

Logan Mailloux will be present at the Montreal Canadiens training camp, which starts in a few weeks.
