On Sunday, we reported that Jesse Ylonen had refused to receive the vaccine against COVID-19. He should therefore miss at least 30% of the Laval Rocket's games, because he will probably not be able to travel to the United States due to sanitary measures.
His development could be in jeopardy, as he will probably not be able to play high level hockey on a regular basis. However, Marc-Olivier Beaudoin, a freelance blogger, made a very interesting point on Twitter.
According to him, the Montreal Canadiens should suggest to Jesse Ylonen to play the 2021-2022 season in the Liiga, the Swedish first division, a league he knows well. This could give Ylonen the opportunity to continue his development by playing regularly at the professional level.
Ylonen could be back in the Montreal Canadiens' lineup in a year, hopefully with the health scares behind him. The Finnish winger was considered one of the most likely players to be recalled in the event of an injury with the big club in 2021-2022. However, due to his personal decision, that may not happen anytime soon...
