Geoff Molson has made a big cleaning at the administrative level by firing Marc Bergevin, executive vice-president and general manager, Trevor Timmins, assistant general manager and Paul Wilson, senior vice-president, public affairs and communications.

The Montreal Canadiens have also officially named Jeff Gorton as Executive Vice President of Hockey Operations.

The search for the Habs' next general manager is officially underway.

Team president and owner Geoff Molson had a message for the three men now on the unemployment line.

"On behalf of myself and the organization, I would like to thank Marc Bergevin, Trevor Timmins and Paul Wilson for their passion and commitment to our club over the past few years. Thanks to their hard work, they have made it possible for our fans to experience memorable moments, including last summer's playoffs that culminated in the Stanley Cup Final. We wish them all the success they deserve as they continue their careers. I believe, however, that the time has come for a change in leadership in our hockey department that will bring a new vision so that our fans and partners can continue to cheer for a team that can compete with the best in the league," said Geoff Molson.

Molson will meet with the media on Monday at 11 a.m. at the Bell Sports Complex in Brossard.
