The Canadiens have chosen their final lineup for the 2023-24 season, and there are two big surprises
Over the past few hours, the excellent journalist Marc Antoine Godin, who covers the Montreal Canadiens, published a very interesting article.
"The world is waiting for the final cuts, who "will make the team" and who won't, but the Canadiens see their team as more than 23 players. The group that left for Tremblant, if you add
Logan Mailloux, that's your 2023-24 edition."
The Canadiens have therefore already chosen their 2023 lineup, and it would not be a lineup of 23 players, but rather a lineup of 27 players. (plus the injured
Christian Dvorak and Chris Wideman)
The group that is currently in Mont-Tremblant represents the group we will see more often than not in the Canadiens' uniform this season. (plus Logan Mailloux)
We now know who will be called up immediately in case of injuries.
Martin St-Louis also gave a strong hint in this direction at a press conference earlier this week.
"It takes more than 20 players to have a good season in the National League. The guys who are still here, and I include Logan Mailloux, will be part of our success this year."
There you have it! The NHL requires teams to submit a lineup of 23 players, but in Montreal, in fact, we will have a lineup of 27 players (currently healthy) with names who will play with the Rocket and with the Canadiens.
An interesting philosophy!
Here is your 2023-24 edition of the Montreal Canadiens.
Here's the complete list:
The two big surprises are certainly Mattias Norlinder and Emil Heineman! We can also include the young Logan Mailloux in the group.
