In an interview over the last few hours following the NHL governors' meeting, Commissioner Gary Bettman revealed some very interesting information.
It concerns the NHL salary cap, and it's very promising.
«Gary Bettman, after the Board of Governors meeting, stated that he informed the owners that very preliminary revenue projections suggested a salary cap increase between 87 and 88 million dollars for 2024-2025, for next year.»
- Pierre LeBrun
Wow! This would be a significant increase and it's a pleasant surprise!
This would result in the following:
2021 - 81.5 million
2022 - 82.5 million
2023 - 83.5 million
2024 - 87.5 million (approximately)
This could change everything, especially for the strong free agent class next summer.
Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens, who have several contracts expiring, might have more money to spend than anticipated!
And yes, potentially more money to offer a player like William Nylander.
Promising times await next summer.
Details to follow.
