In the last few minutes, TVA Sports' informant Renaud Lavoie revealed a surprising piece of information.
The one who just became an assistant to captain Nick Suzuki, Joel Edmundson, would possibly be on his way out of Montreal.
Even if he was among the favorites to become the next captain of the organization, Edmundson could surprisingly be traded by Kent Hughes.
At least, according to what Renaud Lavoie said today:
"I know there's a lot of interest in the National League for a defenseman like Joel Edmundson. If we make him captain, we could have a big pick to make in a year (which ultimately didn't happen). I'm not saying that Joel Edmundson is going to be traded, but I can tell you that there are offers out there that are enticing. They could continue to get more enticing in the coming months."
So this will be a big deal to watch, and it's a surprising piece of information that TVA Sports Network just released.
So there would be a lot of interest coming from other general managers, but it seems illogical for Kent Hughes to complete such a deal, when his defensive brigade really needs depth, and more importantly, experience.
As GM Kent Hughes said again today, he will make the best decision for the future of the Montreal Canadiens.
It also depends on what Renaud Lavoie means by "tempting offers".
Let's say the CH receives an offer similar to the one for Ben Chiarot (the one from the Florida Panthers, last season), would you do it?
Let's recall the trade in question.
To the Panthers: Ben Chiarot
To the Habs: 2023 1st round pick, 2022 4th round pick, prospect Ty Smilanic
So it will really depend on the offers in question, but it's one to watch closely!
