According to Kevin Weekes, defenseman John Klingberg just signed a surprise one-season, $7 million annual contract with the Anaheim Ducks.
The day after his agent was fired, Klingberg found a new team and the second best player available on the market found a buyer. (That leaves Nazem Kadri)
Klingberg, 29, had 47 points in 74 games in 2021-22. He is a solid offensive defenseman with mobility.
Considering he was asking for a seven-year contract that would have paid him about $40 million (just under $6 million per season), it's certainly a big surprise to see him sign for just one season.
