According to several sources, including an excellent Finnish media, it's official. Russia and Belarus will be thrown out of the IIHF in a few hours.
Russia and Belarus will therefore be excluded from all international hockey events. Everything should be announced this evening via an official press release.
TSN's Darren Dreger adds that this was expected yesterday and that "replacement teams" will be considered.
Other things to note :
- The World Junior Hockey Championship, which was scheduled to take place there, in Russia, in 2023, will be withdrawn and moved.
- The World Hockey Championship will also be removed from Russia and moved elsewhere.
- Russia and Belarus will NOT participate in the 2022 World Junior Hockey Championship, Austria will replace Russia, and France will replace Belarus.
- Other possible sanctions to come...
