In his media availability today, just hours before his first career NHL game, young Arber Xhekaj seemed very calm and in control.
We also learned a good one about his time as an employee at Costco.
"This guy (Xhekaj) got fired from Costco during the pandemic. He retrained as a specialist to do clay tennis courts ($20/hour). Tonight he's going to play in the NHL." - Marc-Andre Perreault
So he was fired by his employer, Costco, a hilarious anecdote that had journalists laughing this morning. However, it should not be assumed that he was fired for negative reasons:
"Scheduling issue with his hockey/low traffic. Not skills or bad attitude ;)." - Marc-Andre Perreault
We understand that he was fired because of his lack of availability, precisely in connection with his hockey career, and because of the aftermath of the pandemic.
One thing is for sure, he now has a great job! We can't wait to see him in action tonight!
