As we reported a few hours ago, the Montreal Canadiens made the decision to place the name of forward Rem Pitlick on waivers. Veterans like Mike Hoffman, Jonathan Drouin and Evgenii Dadonov were spared.

Thus, the various general managers of the league can currently acquire Pitlick for free, and there will be an official announcement at 2pm today.

According to some experts, Rem Pitlick's next destination could be known.

"Rem Pitlick will not participate in today's practice, with the goal of being waived at 2pm." - Montreal Canadiens

Following this move, the Habs are at risk of losing Pitlick, and one organization (in particular) could jump at the opportunity: the Minnesota Wild.

As Marco Normandin mentions, their GM Bill Guerin has been looking to add a forward to his roster for several weeks.

He still hasn't succeeded, and like the Washington Capitals did in claiming Nicolas Aubé-Kubel, Guerin could absolutely turn to waivers to find a forward (especially with the long-term injury suffered by Ryan Hartman).

Also, remember that Pitlick played in Minnesota last season and had 11 points in 20 games (6 goals).

"Pitlick comes from the Wild organization so he's well known to the current staff. You'll recall that the Wild waived him last year out of obligation in the hopes that no team would claim him. It would therefore be no surprise if they took the opportunity to bring him back into the fold, as his modest contract could be enticing." - Marco Normandin

The Wild were disappointed to lose him last season via waivers. To be continued!

Pitlick, 25, had 26 points in 46 games last season in Montreal. (No points this season) Do you think he will be claimed? Do you think he will be claimed by the Minnesota Wild?
