The Ottawa Senators announced that they have extended the contract of their general manager Pierre Dorion until the end of the 2024-2025 season. The team also has an option year for the 2025-2026 season.

The Ottawa native will be in his sixth season as GM of the Senators. His next win at the helm will be the 150th of his career. He currently ranks third in Senators history in wins as a general manager behind Bryan Murray with 339 and John Muckler with 240.
Eugene Melnyk is very pleased with Dorion's work, especially with the many young players and draft picks he has acquired over the years. Dorion is building a team that will be very competitive in the short to medium term.
"We're very pleased to sign Pierre to a second extension as the Senators' general manager," said Senators owner and governor Eugene Melnyk. "Dating to when he was named GM in 2016, Pierre has worked tirelessly towards building an organization that can compete with the National Hockey League's best. He's dedicated, detailed and maintains a sound hockey mind. Under Pierre's leadership, we have the utmost confidence that this team will soon be recognized as one that is consistently meriting success."
That's quite a vote of confidence from the Ottawa Senators towards Dorion. The 49-year-old has often been criticized for the Erik Karlsson trade in the past. Today, however, he comes across as a genius.
