The Montreal Canadiens announced that forward Paul Byron will miss five months of activity due to hip surgery he underwent this week.

If you do the math, Byron would be back around December. This will be a big loss for the Habs, considering Paul Byron's impact in the locker room, as well as on the power play.
However, Marc Bergevin must have known that Byron would have to go through a long convalescence, due to recent acquisitions such as Mathieu Perreault and Cédric Paquette.
In addition, some young players will have the chance to make their impression with the big club in the fall, including Ryan Poehling.
Marc Bergevin will have an additional $3.4 million available on the payroll, as Byron will be placed on the long-term injured list.
Byron, 32, was coming off a rough offensive season, hence his 16 points, including 5 goals, in 46 games. There is no doubt that he will want to come back strong when he makes a return to the game.
