At the end of Tuesday night's game between the Montreal Canadiens and the Minnesota Wild, Wild forward Marco Rossi dangerously checked Tricolore rookie Juraj Slafkovsky. A scrum ensued and Jake Evans even threw his gloves.
It's not often you see a player of Slafkovsky's size get beaten up like that, especially by a player seven inches and 50 pounds lighter. But this was the case.
Habs captain Nick Suzuki was asked to comment on the situation and he told the real story, without burying his head in the sand:
"I think it's a dangerous spot on the ice, a little bit off the board. I know Slaf is doing well. It was nice to see the guys come to his defense." - Nick Suzuki
The captain could have said it was a dangerous check that didn't belong, but instead he gave way to the fact that Juraj is a rookie and needs to learn not to put himself in a vulnerable position. However, seeing his teammates defend him is a very good thing.
