On April 4th, the Montreal Canadiens organization announced the signing of forward Emil Heineman. The plan was for him to finish the current season with the Laval Rocket by signing a professional trial contract with them.
Nearly ten days later, news about the player acquired in the deal that sent Tyler Toffoli to Calgary was scarce. However, the Canadiens provided an update on Tuesday, announcing that the young Swedish forward is currently being evaluated by the organization's medical team.
The Florida Panthers' 2nd round pick (43rd overall) in the 2020 draft will have to wait a little longer before playing his first game in North American hockey. In 38 games this season with Leksands IF in the SHL, the forward has 11 goals and 5 assists for a total of 16 points.
The CH also announced on Tuesday that Justin Barron has an ankle injury and will miss the rest of the season. He will not be able to join the Laval Rocket, as it was expected, for the end of the AHL season. Let's hope for them that Heineman can help them out soon.
