Kent Hughes was quite active on this NHL trade deadline day. And it must be said, the Habs general manager pulled off a real smoking gun by acquiring Avalanche prospect Justin Barron in the deal that sent Artturi Lehkonen to Colorado.

The right-handed defenceman, who is playing for the Avalanche's AHL club this season, is coming to Montreal and many experts already see tremendous potential in him.
Who better to talk about the young defenseman than his former coach with the Halifax Moosheads, Jean-Jacques Daigneault?
When contacted by TVA Sports, Daigneault had nothing but good things to say about his former player.
Justin is a very dynamic defenseman with an incredible skating stroke. He's a good passer. He can make good zone exits with good passes. He has that ability to be first on the puck with his good skating. That's what separated him from the others in junior."

If his former coach is to be believed, Barron has a bit of Alex Pietrangelo in his nose, which has Habs fans salivating.
"I don't think he'll be on the first wave of a power play, but I kind of saw him as a Pietrangelo, who wasn't always on the first wave in St. Louis or Vegas. If I can make a projection, I'd go a little bit in that direction.

That's very encouraging in his case. By the way, interestingly, it was Jeff Gorton who drafted Justin Barron's brother, Morgan. Daigneault himself has collaborated for a few years with Gorton when he was an assistant coach with the Hartford Wolf Pack in the American League.
