For the past few weeks, Canadians defender Ben Chiarot has been a very popular name in trade rumors.
In the end, will he be traded? Montreal Canadiens GM Kent Hughes agreed to answer the question very clearly in a recent interview with Sportsnet reporter Eric Engels.
Wow! That's transparency:
«Again, timing is important. The more information you have, the better. [...] we will trade Ben Chiarot, but we will not trade everyone." -Kent Hughes
We suspected it (and that's why it's talked about a lot), but to see the GM mention it so clearly, and thus reveal his plan, it's almost unheard of.
Do you like this strategy?
Now that we know he will be traded, what would you ask for Chiarot?
Recall that, according to several excellent sources, including ESPN's Emily Kaplan, despite his good performance, general manager Kent Hughes has still not received a good offer for his 30-year-old defender. That's why he's still in Montreal.
Worse. The Canadian would not even have been offered a simple first-round pick for Chiarot yet. To date, the offers are below a first-round pick.
However, they should improve by March 21. For details :
