The Montreal Canadiens have demoted young Cole Caufield to the Laval Rocket. The organization also recalled forward Michael Pezzetta.
Remember that Dominique Ducharme had said that all options were possible for the Habs. The Habs head coach was not opposed to the idea of sending number 22 to Laval.
Caufield has only one assist in ten games this year with the Montreal Canadiens. He currently has the second most shots on net with 22, one behind Josh Anderson with 27.
So Cole Caufield's chances of winning the Calder Trophy just went out the window. However, it's not all bad news. The young forward will join a good team with the Rocket, where he can develop and regain his confidence.
As for Michel Pezzetta, he will bring contagious energy to the Habs team. He had a great training camp with the Habs in September and has been playing great hockey for Jean-François Houle's team since the beginning of the season. He has six points, including three goals, in eight games this season. He also maintained a plus-7 rating.
