During an appearance on TVA Sports, on Jean-Charles Lajoie's show, the informant Renaud Lavoie launched a very interesting proposal.

Traded at the trade deadline last Monday for a second round pick, a seventh round pick and young defenseman William Lagesson, Brett Kulak could possibly be back in Montreal next September.
Lavoie described Kulak as a player who will never make eight million a season, but certainly has the character and leadership of a big-money NHL player :
"We have to be careful. We have a perception of Brett Kulak, but we're not in the room with him. Martin St-Louis, he knew him, then I'm confident that he thinks that this guy is special. Quite a bit more than people like you and me think. My impression is that we [the CH] will try to work something out with him over the summer. I'm not talking about a $5 million offer. It's not related at all, but if Brett Kulak wants to come back to Montreal, I feel like we're going to take him back with open arms." - Renaud Lavoie

Do you like the idea of bringing Kulak back to Montreal, to come in and mentor the youth and be a prominent presence in the locker room?
It could make for a good, useful veteran, because starting the next season with three rookie defensemen doesn't seem to be an option for the club's management (with good reason).
Let's remember that Kulak will be an uncompensated free agent this summer. Kent Hughes mentioned earlier this month that he was absolutely open to extending Kulak's contract in Montreal.
