Kent Hughes just confirmed a major rumor involving Cayden Primeau and it's officially settled regarding waivers
At a press conference in the last few seconds, the general manager of the Montreal Canadiens, Kent Hughes, gave very interesting information about the situation with the three goalies.
He confirmed that it was HIS decision to keep three goalies, he confirmed that he did not intend to continue the trio for the entire season initially, but now, he is just waiting for the right trade offer.
Regarding young Cayden Primeau, he confirmed a major rumor that was circulating.
Primeau was going to be claimed off waivers in the NHL
Hughes mentioned that he and Jeff Gorton did their homework a few weeks ago, they seriously inquired about the matter, and they learned that teams were going to claim Cayden Primeau off waivers.
So, they kept him in Montreal, because otherwise, he would have been sent to the Laval Rocket.
"It's certain that we would have liked Cayden to start the season in Laval, but we didn't want to lose him," added Hughes
Hughes, therefore, got the scoop that Primeau was going to be claimed off waivers.
He also added that, now, the goalie has proven that he is ready for the NHL.
Hughes has made his decision and the goalie trio will not be resolved through waivers
So, it's a settled matter. Let's not hold our breath and speculate on the subject, Kent Hughes will not send Cayden Primeau or Jake Allen on waivers.
There you go.
"Every time the goalie trio is brought up in the press conference, KH mentions that he will have 3 goalies up until an interesting trade is proposed.
We can forget the waiver option, I believe!" - Via Marc-Olivier Beaudoin
So, it will be resolved via a trade!
