Now that the Habs have selected Juraj Slafkovsky with their first ever draft pick, the team's fans can finally breathe easier, and while some fans were not thrilled with the idea of the Slovak forward being Kent Hughes' pick, it's safe to say that most people are now applauding the decision.
While some experts claim that the decision to select Slafkovsky came only a few hours before the draft, TVA Sports reporter Nicolas Cloutier mentioned that the final decision came on Wednesday, the day before the draft.
According to Cloutier, the 18-year-old's speed, frame and, above all, his confidence were the main factors that tipped the scales in his favor to become the Habs' choice.
Even if the majority of Canadiens fans would have preferred that Kent Hughes choose Shane Wright, we must say that the arrival of the Slovak winger will give a whole new dimension to the team's attack for years to come.
With the addition of Kirby Dach, the Habs now have two very talented young players in their lineup and it's a safe bet that both will be watched very closely when the team's training camp opens in September.
