For the occasion, the top prospects of the 2022 draft met with several executives of the 32 NHL teams to get a good idea of what awaits them once they reach the big league.
The Canadiens organization took the opportunity to meet with several prospects, including the son of the team's general manager, a certain Jack Hughes.
Jack Hughes is ranked as the 26th best skating prospect in North America, and the Habs happen to have the 26th pick with their second first round pick, obtained from the Calgary Flames in the deal that sent Tyler Toffoli to Alberta last February.
However, as Maxime Ouellet of Habsolumentfan.com reports, Hughes does not expect to be selected by his father.
He has never ruled out the possibility in the past, but in an interview he gave to Nicolas Landry of RDS.ca, he once again spoke out on the subject and doesn't think the Habs will pick him.
Under the circumstances, this is quite understandable due to the fact that some experts have pointed the finger at the new organization for hiring in recent months former colleagues and good friends to remake the structure of the organization.
But when it's the Habs' turn to pick, if the organization feels that Jack Hughes is the best player available at that time, it's quite possible that Kent Hughes will make his son a full member of the Habs.
