Martin St-Louis and John Tortorella know each other very well, as the Canadiens' head coach played for Torts when the Tampa Bay Lightning won the Stanley Cup in 2004.
Saturday night's game was a duel between the student and the master, and in this case, the student came out on top. You'll notice that John Tortorella's reaction after Cole Caufield's tying goal was quite telling.
After the Habs' win, Martin St-Louis held his usual media availability. Reporters asked him if he watched Torts' reaction after Caufield's goal, but the CH coach admitted that he has way too much respect for his counterpart. When the reporters told him he was laughing, St. Louis' response was just perfect and there was a lot of laughter in the room.
Exchange with Martin St-Louis about John Tortorella:
"When your team tied the game with 1.9 seconds left, did you give Torts a look?"
"No, I have too much respect for him."
"But it's okay he was smiling!"
"Oh yeah? Me too!"
