Here is what Alexander Romanov's next contract could look like this summer
Montreal Canadiens defenseman Alexander Romanov will become an independent player with compensation at the end of the season.
The reporter for The Athletic, Marc-Antoine Godin, mentioned that Kent Hughes would possibly be interested in making a long-term deal with his young defenseman, like Bergevin did with Nick Suzuki earlier this season.According to Godin, it will be a salary around $4M per season.
However, Godin says it would be better if the Russian signed a short or medium term contract first. For example, a three-year contract worth between $2 and $3 million per season.
