A few days ago, we reported that discussions would have taken place recently between Kent Hughes and his counterpart of the Arizona Coyotes, Bill Armstrong.

In fact to recap, Sportsnet tipster Chris Johnston had mentioned in his podcast, The Chris Johnston Show, that he believes the Habs and Coyotes could be working out a big trade by the time the next NHL draft rolls around in Montreal this July.

As we know, Shea Weber's contract was almost traded to Arizona at the trade deadline. However, the deal never happened, but not for the reasons we thought.

Max Truman of Danslescoulisses.com reports that it wasn't the NHL that turned down the trade, but rather it was a question of insurance on the Habs captain's contract that caused the deal to fall apart.

In any case, the possibility of a trade between the two teams is quite high and Johnston added to that by mentioning that it could very well be that young Logan Mailloux could be traded eventually.

With the arrival of Justin Barron and the signing of Jordan Harris, the Habs are left with a surplus of quality prospects on defense and it could very well be that Mailloux could be used as a bargaining chip for Kent Hughes in a potential trade.

Chris Johnston actually hinted that Mailloux could be traded soon.

Will it be with the Coyotes? We will have an answer at the next NHL draft in Montreal in July.
