Former Cole Caufield coach not comfortable with Habs' decision

On Monday at noon, Marc Bergevin and the Montreal Canadiens decided to demote Cole Caufield to the Laval Rocket, so that he could rebuild his confidence. Since the opening of this season, Caufield is holding his stick tighter, he feels too hasty in his decisions and he doesn't use his shot properly.

All of this is obviously related to a blatant lack of confidence, which is why he still hasn't hit the red light since the start of the campaign. However, he is certainly not the only one playing on the heels so far, as it is the case for several soldiers, including Nick Suzuki and Alexander Romanov.

And what about some of the veterans who just don't have the stuff, but that's okay, because they're veterans...

The idea of sending him to the Laval Rocket is not crazy, but like Tony Granato, I wonder if it was really the way to go in this case?

"Obviously, they think it's best for him to send him back and regain his trust and that's the decision they made!" said Granato.

That said, Granato believes it will be a brief stint for Caufield in the minors since in his eyes, it's not where he belongs.

"To be honest with you, if you had told me a month ago that this was going to happen, I would have said no chance. He's totally ready. But it's a slow start to the season. Last year, everything was going well for him. And this year, they weren't coming in," added Granato.

As Jérémie Rainville said Monday on 98.5 Sports, I'm of the opinion that Caufield is paying for his teammates since he's the easiest element to pack in. But that's just my opinion, which Rainville also shares.

In short, Caufield's fate is in his hands and I remain confident that he will come through quickly since he has a lot of character. But, let's add to that the real positive is that Caufield will emerge from an unhealthy environment right now with the Habs.
