This evening, during the duel between the Montreal Canadiens and the Detroit Red Wings, live from the Bell Centre, we witnessed a special scene.
It's extremely rare to see this in the NHL, but it speaks volumes about the great class of the organization and the fans of the Tricolore.
Referee Marc Joanette was honored and received a beautiful ovation from the crowd.
Wow! Check it out:
"Marc Joanette is going to get drunk on the arm of Kent Hughes and Martin St-Louis. Definitely not convenience store wine!
Last game of his career. Bravo!"
Marc-André Perreault, TVA Sports
Hats off to Mr. Joanette for this superb career, hats off to the fans for their reaction, and hats off to the CH organization for this wonderful gesture.
That's why Montreal is the best hockey market in the world! A moment that Joanette will certainly remember for the rest of his life, and he will be happy to have ended his career at the Bell Centre.
