The Toronto Maple Leafs have had some great rivalries over the years. There's the Montreal Canadiens, the Boston Bruins and, of course, Toronto Sun columnist Steve Simmons. Over the past few years, Simmons has managed to piss off several members of the team, as well as general manager Kyle Dubas. On Sunday night, it was head coach Sheldon Keefe's turn.
After a brutal 7-3 loss in Game 4 of their series against the Tampa Bay Lightning, Simmons asked Keefe a question that he didn't seem too happy about.
"Sheldon, why did you throw your worst defenseman into a building that you know will be this loud?"
"Who was our worst defender?"
"Justin Holl."
"That's your opinion, I guess." Keefe simply shrugged before moving on to the next question.
The question was supposed to elicit a bigger response from Keefe, but he didn't fall for it. The reporter was fooled and he looked a little crazy.
Meanwhile, while most Toronto fans are generally not on Simmons' side, there seem to be many who agree with his assessment of Holl. The reactions have been many...
For those unfamiliar with Simmons, he was the one who, in 2015, claimed in the Toronto Sun that Phil Kessel was a daily visitor to a hot dog vendor near his Toronto apartment.
Over the years, the journalist has created many other controversies and has made no friends among Toronto sports teams. He has, once again, done it again...
