At just 16 years of age, Connor Bedard is currently at the Junior Team Canada camp, trying to become the seventh player to make the national team roster at such a young age.
Bedard could be the first since Connor McDavid to achieve this feat. Wayne Gretzky is the first to do so, while Eric Lindros, Jason Spezza, Jay Bouwmeester and Sidney Crosby round out the very short list.
Bedard has 14 goals and 24 points in 24 games with the Regina Pats so far this season. He has been a dominant player since his junior debut and his performances are likely to earn him a spot in head coach Dave Cameron's lineup.
The young man is seen as the favorite to be selected first overall in the 2023 draft, along with Russian Matvei Michkov.
