When he returns, three or four teams could be watching him very closely, according to an anonymous scout from an NHL team. Scouts remember Price's recent success last summer, then realize this guy doesn't break under pressure.
"There are three or four teams that might be interested. He's invaluable to some clubs, but the problem is absorbing him under the salary cap for all four years. What's he worth? In my opinion, a first round pick and a prospect, that's for sure. Minimum,» said the anonymous scout.
"With what he showed in the playoffs, he should have two or three more years of solid hockey, depending on whether he comes back from his injury and his off-ice stuff is resolved. I think Colorado would be a good fit for him. Darcy Kuemper has a reputation for being an oft-injured goalie and that's been the case again this year."
Obviously, the Avalanche will have to find a way to fit Price's $10.5 million contract into their salary structure (with some of it held back by the Habs, obviously).
